Desmadre

Whisky Stomp / Americana / Magical Rocket-Pop
Portland, OR

Hailing from Massachusetts and New Jersey, Matt and Kali met at a party in Boston and decided to be friends...best friends. Years later they moved into a big red house together, started a band, and confessed their love to each other...first through song (awkward).
After realizing how big the world was, the two decided to head out to Portland, OR, where they finished up their debut album, and enlisted some new junkies.
Since then, the Junkies have been toured the west coast, released an EP called Don't Wait for the Rescue Squad, and had a ton of fun in Portland. They released their sophomore full-length This Cage Has No Bottom on Timber Carnival Records in November of 2010.
Check out their live show for a truly unique experience and don't be shy...the Junkies love to let fans join in on the show!

Electropop/Sci-fi Synths/Space Funk/Booty Bass
The Bay Area & Far Beyond

Planet Booty is a force to be reckoned with. Having started as a genre-defying concept album by brothers Nathan and Dylan Germick that blends electropop, sci-fi synths, space funk and booty bass, the project has evolved into a live show of epic proportions. The 6-piece ensemble fuses electronics, drums, percussion, horns, marimba, guitars, and soulful singing (with a splash of choreography and theatrics) to create a hyper-charged and highly entertaining dance party experience.
Having quickly earned a reputation as one the Bay Area’s must see live acts, Planet Booty performs regularly at venues such as The Rickshaw Stop, Bottom of the Hill, Café du Nord, Red Devil Lounge, and Oakland’s Uptown. Their combination of high-caliber musicianship, adventurous arrangements, and good ol’ fashioned funk is guaranteed to raise a smile and get booties bouncing.

The Backup Razor, Vampirates, Dun Bin Had, & 3 Cards Short @ The Blue Lagoon Wednesday 7/11/12

Santa Cruz, CA

With many groups including The Avengers, The Nuns, Mutants, The Offs, and the Dead Kennedys having built thriving careers out of northern California, the Bay Area is no stranger to Punk Rock. Abundant in arts and culture, it makes sense that local geography continues to birth an unstoppable, underground movement abundant in Punk. Included in the mix is Santa Cruz’s “The Backup Razor”, an eclectic group fueled by a love for “what they do” and propelled by a mission to keep the local music scene alive. Front-man Jesse Williams is the voice behind the band, supported by Nick Hardesty on guitar, Jonathan Mumma on drums and Jeff Badagliacca on bass. Driven by a genuine passion for expression, TBR has a resume that would put some of the most tenured bands to shame. Sharing stage with literally hundreds of artists and myriads of venues, the rebel quartet has become an established entity across the region as a member and driver on the local scene

Vampirates
Public Service Punk Rock
Reno, NV
"Then the Vampirates played and proceeded to absolutely beat the shit out of each other and simultaneously amaze and confuse the audience with the ferocity of the music and the barroom brawl vibe they have with each other. Bass player loses his strap and takes a knee mid-song so as to finish playing. Singer sees this and proceeds to barrel right into him with his shoulder and then, just in case that wasn't enough, kicks him while he's trying to play. Guitar player sees it and any rational person would go stop this violent mayhem with his band mates. Does he stop it? No, he runs and jumps right into them with the same abandon one would when one cannon balls into a pool. Only this isn't a pool. It's people and they're in your band." - Ryan Stark
Vampirates started in early 2003 with original members Pat Mayfield (bass), Chris Fox (guitar), Eddie Condon (vocals), and Geoff Huber (drums). From the begining we have been very ambitious towards creating the music we love. Staying true to our DIY roots, we played our first show in Pat's dorm room, and continued to play as much as possible over the next few months. Roughly five months after we started, we recorded "Shitpanzimps" with A2K as engineer at our practice studio, which also doubled as a Tofu Factory during normal business hours.
Shortly thereafter, we took a break for summer. During that break Eddie decided that punk rock wasn't for him (or something...), so we enlisted Dave Masud (of Reno, Nevada's Painting Gala/Twice) to take over the vocal duties. This line-up lasted for two shows, until Geoff left the band to move to Eugene where he currently resides and rides his bike.
In 2004 Eddie decided that punk rock was again right for him, and became our singer once more. Dave, being the multi-talented bad-ass that he is, took over the drumming duties, and this line-up lasted for one and a half shows (Chris Tufino played half of a set...).
Dave was busy with Twice and school, so we enlisted Chris Tufino (of Reno's Twelve Gauge Facelift) as our full-time drummer. Our one year anniversary show in Yreka, California, was one of three shows we played with this line-up. Then, Eddie again decided that he needed to pursue something else. In turn, Dave rejoined Vampirates as vocalist.
In the Summer of 2004, the Ashland half (Chris/Pat) moved to Reno so we could write and function as a normal band. What resulted was the self-recorded "Summer Ale EP" and a handful of shows around the area. After summer, Pat and Chris moved back to Ashland for schooling, and we played as many shows as possible throughout the school year.
In Summer of 2005 Pat and Chris moved back to Reno to write a new record, "Muffstache," which finally was demoed and released in 2007.
During 2006, the band remained half in Reno, and half in Ashland. The last of a few original line-up reunion shows in Ashland was recorded and released as our first live record titled "Oh Anal! Live at the LFAG." This was a limited split release with two Vampirates side projects, Edepit and Butthak.
In the spring of 2007, we embarked on the Punish Your Body Tour with Reno's Painting Gala, covering Oregon, Northern Nevada, and Northern California.
In the summer/fall of 2007, we began to write some new material for a new full-length. We also with many great bands including the Adolescents and the Duane Peters Gunfight.
On July 6th, 2008, we entered Pus Cavern Studios in Sacramento record "Muffstache" with engineer Joe Johnston (Deftones, Cake, Cobra Skulls). The CD was officially released on December 13, 2008.
In 2008, we played shows with notable bands such as the Circle Jerks, the Murder Junkies, and Larry And His Flask.
In May of 2009, we embarked on the Punish Your Buick Tour, covering the Southern US. Busy with school and work, Chris Tufino was not able to tour, so Dave filled in on drums. Throughout the rest of the year, we played regionally with noteworthy bands like the Murder Junkies, Static Thought, MDC, Citizen Fish, and Star Fucking Hipsters. Demoing for a new record continued, as well, resulting in the "Here Ya Go EP" (limited to 50 copies) which featured two new songs and four live songs.
In spring/summer of 2010, we ventured out on a four-month US Tour spanning eighteen states, totaling seventy-eight shows. Chris Tufino was again busy with school and work, so, as a result, Dave played drums for the majority of the tour. In mid-june we recorded in Asheville, NC in a basement for a very limited (6 copies) tape-only release titled "2010 Tape," our only release featuring Dave on drums.
In 2010, we played with famed bands such as Against Me!, Grabass Charlestons, Death By Stereo, Shat, and Static Thought. Our song "Bottom Of The Top" was featured on the compilation "Corruption Of American Youth Volume 2" (Crash Assailant Records), which was released in late 2010.
In 2011, we played a total of 100 shows across the United States. During the tour, we self-recorded and self-released "Shit Summer," which was tracked and mixed in various cities across the US and features nine old songs and three new songs. Another new song called "Eat This Song" was featured on a compilation called "Eat This Tape" (Cocksmoker Chunk Records), which was released on December 6, 2011. We continued to demo and write new songs for an upcoming full-length release.
In April of 2012 we will enter Pus Cavern Studios in Sacramento, CA to (finally) record a new full-length. We also plan to tour North America throughout spring/summer to support our new album.

3 Cards Short
Punk Rock
Santa Cruz

3 Cards short was established on the of 5th of January, 2011. Erin and Paul shared a wet dream to write punk rock like the best band ever, Nofx, while embracing their inner Nerd. Voilà, 3 Cards Short, a band spanning time and space, through science and fantasy and of course the mutual love for Veronica out of Fall Out: New Vegas, was born.
"This is an ad containing all the useful information you never cared about concerning the formation and subsequent actions of our team. For the sake of avoiding redundancy, we opt to omit such facts and offer this morsel in lieu; We've come to party. We're not here to be rockstars or gain importance. We just want to have fun while we're still young enough to call ourselves young. If you love video games, comic books, epic movies and tv shows, anything with an inspiring story to tell, join us in our crusade. 3 Cards Short. Pwn. Est. Jan. 2011.

Emerging as a duo in the Summer of 2010 with the musical engineering prowess of Kevin Loftus and the guitar styling's of Dhruva Noel, A Thousand Shall Fall was a metal-based recording group with hopes of gaining a few more members and turning it into the real thing. In late August the duo became a formidable trio with the addition of Daniel Johnston, a highly skilled guitarist previously part of various local bands such as Descending Forth and others. With the addition of Dan ATSF found a direction for their music and added an important piece to their onslaught. In late 2010 Jesse Williams joined on vocals, and in early 2011 Gena Krupa joined the band to finalize the ATSF lineup. Currently in the process of composing, booking, and recording the band's sound is strongly melodic while simultaneously staying true to the heavy hitting rhythms they've all grown fond of. My Stupid Brother, Solwave, Alwa Gordon, The Redlight District, & Giant @ The Blue Lagoon Friday 6/1/12

My Stupid Brother
Rock/Pop/Punk
Santa Cruz, CA

“My Stupid Brother never fails to entertain, with catchy rock songs, wise-ass humor and tight, upbeat performances." -Your Music Magazine
Hailing from the tiny mountain town of Ben Lomond just outside of Santa Cruz, CA, the members of MY STUPID BROTHER have been cutting their rock star teeth since 2002, before their voices had even changed. Since then, the power trio has matured into a force to be reckoned with. Charged by the friendly sibling rivalry of brothers George and Henry Chadwick (ages 23 and 21, respectively), along with drummer Tyler Raynes (age 21), MY STUPID BROTHER cuts loose on stage, with high-energy, guitar-smashing rock shows that keep audiences engaged and entertained. Their songs are catchy in the vein of Green Day, Weezer, and Blink 182, but have an edge with lyrics and melodies that evoke Kurt Cobain and John Lennon.
MY STUPID BROTHER has created a buzz within the Santa Cruz club scene, where the band has turned the heads of top industry professionals. MY STUPID BROTHER took first place out of over fifty bands in the Your Music Magazine's 2009 “Your Music Olympicks” Battle Of The Bands. They were voted the Best Band of Santa Cruz County.
Their second CD, What You Need, featured guest producers
and Tony Sales (bass guitarist/backing vocals from Iggy Pop's Lust for Life and David Bowie's Tin Machine.)
This band's drive and motivation is key to their success thus far. As the sons of multi gold and platinum audio engineer and producer Daren Chadwick, who worked with recording artists that include Paul McCartney, Chicago, Motley Crüe and The Dead Kennedys, George (guitar/vocals) and Henry (bass/lead vocals) were raised in a studio environment, while prodigy drummer Tyler Raynes grew up in a musical family and has literally been drumming since he could walk. Both George and Henry are acting as producers and engineers on the 2009 Release, What You Need.
MSB is currently working on their 3rd CD title TBA, which will be released in 2012.
MY STUPID BROTHER has maintained a rigorous rehearsal schedule and is stage-ready for shows of all sizes.

Solwave
Electronic Groove Rock
San Francisco, CA

Solwave crafts energetic, electronic groove rock, with a surprisingly deep and so(u)lful edge. After nearly seven years of playing together, the band, comprised of brothers Danny and Tommy Ferdon, drummer Moses Seri, and front man Joe Collins formed in San Francisco in 2009. Taking a cue from genre-blending artists like Muse and The Killers, Solwave fuses elements of pop, funk, rock and electronica to create complex and transient songs. According to Collins, the band’s conception came out of a “pull to be at peace…a strong impulse to find some kind of enlightenment, and the music acts as a chronicle of that search, or glimpses of that journey.” All of the songs on the band’s debut EP, Real Tales of San Francisco provides a genuine and unapologetically soulful view into the ups and downs that have driven Collins and the rest of the band to create their music. Above all else, what seperates Solwave, from many of the Bay Area’s emerging artists, is an aim to create trend-free music, each with equal parts meticulous focus and inspiration as well as their outstanding live performances. Though Solwave is a relatively young act, their popularity has begun to catch on, with appearances on 107.3 FCCFree Radio's The Unbound Sound Show, and live shows in the bay area at venues such as Elbo Room, El Rio The Hotel Utah, Hemlock Tavern, and many more.
"Solwave has got to been one of the very few bands that just sounds different in every song that you can’t really categorize them as old school rock, electronic, or pop. They definitely have a great mash-up of different genres in their music which makes them unique." - Indie-Inc Music Blog

Jazz-elle's Multi-Flavored Electronica
Electro New Wave
Santa Cruz

Jazz-elle carves out her stage presence with dance movements. Writing music with the use of samples and sound files, she builds waves of sound, an electro pop funk wave. She paints with sound, a canvas on which to drop funky vibes and spiritual rhythms, rockin the performance and the moment with pulsing dance moves.
Prevalent in Jazz-elle’s songs the listener will hear heavy bottom bass line notes, pumping drum beats, the prolific melodies with their keyboard instrumentation, exciting guitar riffs and surprising electronic effects.
With social justice as Jazz-elle's passion, in 2004 she produced her first mini disc, “Up”. 2004 was a presidential election year in the United States and her motivation was to engage listeners in the political democratic process. She urged everyone who listened to her music to get "Up" and vote.
In 2006, she teamed up with the funk/rock band "Under the Radar" in Santa Cruz, California; and performed with them while singing and showcasing her original songs.
On a mission for more education, justice and passionate for fun, Jazz-elle enrolled at the University of California-Santa Cruz, California, (UCSC), in 2006-2008. Community Studies was her major while she studied extensively in the UCSC Electronic Music Lab.She gained the skills needed to produce her first complete LP / CD in 2010, “Test Your Taste Buds”.
Jazz-elle produces social justice documentaries, music videos, and the "Planet of Dreamz" music show. Her recently produced music video, "Transcend", was screened at the 10th Annual Santa Cruz Film Festival. Check out more videos at www.youtube.com/jazzellemusic.
www.Jazz-elle.com www.myspace.com/jazzellemusic www.youtube.com/jazzellemusic
Giving audiences a hint of Blondie with a B-52 flavor and a seasoning of Laurie Anderson, Jazz-elle emerges as an artist with dance moves that are said to be off the chain. Your heart is thumping, blood warming, hips bumping, body grooving, mind expanding: in the Jazz-elle vibe.
From the age of 2, Jazz-elle has been a vivacious dancer, dancing through her trials and tribulations..... eventually finding herself in the Mojave desert, where she found her songwriting muse. In the cacti blooming scenery, the lizards and coyotes became her best friends, and she began to transform with them. Her album, “Test Your Taste Buds”, cover artwork is a tribute to and for her lizard friends that inspire the spirit to move.
Get your desert rocks off with the heavy bottom, pulsating beats, sweet keyboard melodies, tripping E effects, an a touch of guitar.

Moon Eater
Rock and Roll
Santa Cruz, CA

Formed in 2011, MOON EATER is a four-piece rock band with a larger-than-life, lightning bolt-up-your-ass sound. Hailing from the sandy shores of Santa Cruz, California, they deliver no fuss, capital “R” Rock ‘n Roll with sharply interwoven guitar lines, muscular rhythms and a natural melodic sense. MOON EATER keeps it fresh and original with a tasty mix of bombastic 1970's guitar rock, garage-influenced punk and some heavy-riffing down-pick damage. What else would you expect from a bunch of mutant audiophiles with esoteric and wide-ranging tastes, who are still cavemen when it comes to apeshit volume and big drums? All members of the band are longtime mainstays of the Bay Area punk music scene, seasoned vets who lay down some serious hot pipe.

*FREE METAL SHOW* BlackQueen, Deconstruct, A Thousand Shall Fall, Above The Storm, & Gorphyryac @ The Blue Lagoon Wednesday 5/16/12

BlackQueen
Witch Metal
Seattle, WA / San Francisco, CA

blackQueen started in 1998 in San Francisco out of the need to practice ritual magick via soundtrack horror metal, with stage antics and costumes that were ominously dark, yet sometimes bordered on the ridiculous and preposterous. Utilizing live ritual, pyrotechniques, and subversive promotional tactics, blackQueen soon became known as a powerful and obscure musical entity, in the SF metal scene, and also to the average listener, and performance art fan.
Thier first effort and demo, 'Witch Metal' was recorded on 4 track and represented the bands willingness to be completely DIY, yet also to distance themselves from hardcore and black metal, by never venturing too far into either influence, yet remaining as a soundtrack to an end to the world of man thru the underground powers of esoteric witchcraft.
The second release. 'the Antropocalypse' was recorded at Lucky Cat Studios by Kurt Schlegel, and was the first metal record to ever use oceanic terrestrial intelligence as its subject matter.

A Thousand Shall Fall
Metal
Santa Cruz, CA

Emerging as a duo in the Summer of 2010 with the musical engineering prowess of Kevin Loftus and the guitar styling's of Dhruva Noel, A Thousand Shall Fall was a metal-based recording group with hopes of gaining a few more members and turning it into the real thing. In late August the duo became a formidable trio with the addition of Daniel Johnston, a highly skilled guitarist previously part of various local bands such as Descending Forth and others. With the addition of Dan A.T.S.F. found a direction for their music and added an important piece to their onslaught. In late 2010 Jesse Williams joined on vocals, and in early 2011 Gena Krupa joined the band to finalize the A.T.S.F. lineup. Currently in the process of composing, booking, and recording the band's sound is strongly melodic while simultaneously staying true to the heavy hitting rhythms they've all grown fond of. Keep your eyes and ears open for some upcoming tracks on Myspace other sites and look out for A Thousand Shall Fall coming to a city near you in 2012.

The Ghost of Wrights, The High Sea, Cartoon Bar Fight, & Adira Shark @ The Blue Lagoon Friday 5/11/12

The Ghost of Wrights
Folk/Rock/Experimental
Santa Cruz Mountains

In the 1880’s a railroad was completed that traversed the Santa Cruz Mountains. This was accomplished with the construction of a small number of tunnels that connected the small towns and communities that dotted the countryside between the Santa Clara Valley and Santa Cruz. One of these communities was the train depot of Wrights Station.
The railroad was shut down in the 1940’s with the entrances to the tunnels blown up. As a result these small communities dwindled and disappeared becoming ghost towns. Although little remains today but crumbling stone and overgrown foundations, the souls of these towns and tunnels linger on to this day… We are The Ghost of Wrights.
