DIXON, MFSF, & OUTSHINED @ THE BLUE LAGOON: Monday, August 22nd

SF/Oakland
Punk / Rock

TUCSON, Arizona
(A blend of Zappa/Elfman meets MC5 and Devo)
MFSF! are definitely one of those bands that have to be experienced to be believed. Mr. Free, he is not just a singer- he’s a performer. Often with bizarre makeup, costumes, and drooling paint, this group doesn’t just play…they put on a show. He winds his way through the audience, toying with fans—getting in their faces, rubbing against them, sitting among them. He can be frightening, hilarious and confrontational, but never boring. It's a delicate balancing act between music and performance art. The performance would be enough in itself, but then there’s the music- dense, dark, whimsical and everything in between, MFSF! manages to create music that is both complex and hook-filled. Which would account for the invitation the band received to play huge Mess with Texas event at SXSW, which had them sharing the stage with the likes of X, The Breeders and No Age.

MFSF!’s debut album Guru Gaga is released on Bloat Records (home to acts like Bob Log III and Winelord) and was described by the Tucson Weekly as “being brilliant both in composition and execution—something that can easily get lost in the spectacle of Mr. Free's live performances.”The band is gearing up for a summer/fall supporting their forthcoming 7" EP, Snakes in Orifice.

OUTSHINED
San Francisco, CA
Rock
Outshined is a four-piece hard rock band from San Francisco, California, whose music defies the very nature of what a rock band is expected to sound like in 2011. Owing their origin to the grit and grime of the Tenderloin district's stained streets, their sound churns with heavy tones of urban decay and dense fog. Armed with powerful presence and crushing live performances, Outshined cuts to the core of raw human emotion, extracting from it the tools they will use to build their empire of true hard rock.
